Desert horse riding: what the day looks like
The same horses as the beach ride, taken inland across the wadi instead of along the water. It's an hour in the saddle, with a riding guide alongside you.
You're collected from your hotel: drop a pin for it when you book. Rides go at 08:00, 16:00 and 17:00, every day. The operator says the early ride is the cooler one, which in the desert counts for a lot.
The horse, the tack and a helmet are included, and beginners are welcome. The only ticket is Standard, at $29.
Desert or beach? The beach horse ride goes along the Nabq shoreline in the shallows, for $44, and its 17:00 ride finishes as the sun goes down. This one is for anyone who'd rather ride through the desert than along the sea. The operator says it's the quieter of the two.
Want more of the desert? The quad and buggy safari rides out across the open desert to a Bedouin settlement for tea and a short camel ride. It takes about 2 hours, with hotel pickup too.
