quad safari, karting & paintball in Sharm El Sheikh

A Polaris buggy in the desert, its riders in scarves and goggles, with quads behind

Out into the desert, round a timed circuit, or into an arena with a team. The quad safari, go-karting and paintball each come with hotel pickup.

The quad bike safari takes about 2 hours and leaves at 14:00 and 16:00. You ride out across the open desert to a Bedouin settlement for Bedouin tea and a short camel ride. Ride a quad on your own ($27), share one with a friend ($22 each), or swap it for a Polaris buggy ($44). The 16:00 departure is the operator's sunset run.

Go-karting is at Ghibli Raceway, an outdoor circuit with timing screens on every session, and takes about 2 hours. The 6.5 HP karts are for anyone. The 9 HP karts are for people who have driven before and want to race. You pick the engine and 15 or 20 laps, from $36.

Paintball takes about 2 hours, in a built outdoor arena with cover, objectives, marshalled games and full protective kit. If you come as a pair, you're put in a team on the day. 100 paintballs is about three games; 200 lasts the session. Tickets start at $39.

How to choose: the safari if you want the desert, the karts if you want a lap time, paintball if there are a few of you. Quad biking is the one that ends with tea and a camel.
