boat trips & water sports in Sharm El Sheikh

A row of white day boats moored at the reef, with snorkellers in the turquoise water

Some of these take the whole day and some take an hour, on the water or above it.

The Ras Mohammed boat trip is the full day: about 8 hours on a day boat into Ras Mohammed National Park, with stops at White Island and the Stingray station. You get two guided snorkelling stops and a buffet lunch on board, from $50. The pirate boat trip is a day on a galleon with swim and snorkel stops, at $79. The private speedboat is different again: the boat and a skipper for your group, by the hour, out to Tiran to snorkel or dive. It's priced per boat, from $108 an hour. The Ras Mohammed trip, the pirate boat and the speedboat all include hotel pickup.

Parasailing, the banana boat ride and the tube ride start from Pedestrians Road in Naama Bay. None of the three includes hotel pickup. Parasailing takes you up for eight to ten minutes, solo or tandem, from $24. The banana boat ride is two runs, the banana and then the ringo, at $29. The tube ride is the ringo on its own, at $29.

How to choose: for a whole day at sea, pick Ras Mohammed if snorkelling is the point, and the pirate boat if the boat is. For an hour between the pool and dinner, try parasailing, the banana boat or the tube. For a boat of your own, take the speedboat.
